This activity concerned the seismic assessment of separation columns in which oil, gas and water are separated after a first treatment in the slug catchers. Several columns are present in the mentioned plant. A refined model using shell elements for the wall and an equivalent EP spring at the base to simulate the interaction between the base skirt and the foundation has been adopted. For the identification of the vibration modes necessary to validate the proposed solution the TInRAR technique has been used and implemented by Nazcha srl.
A retrofitting solution currently under development employes an innovative mitigation strategy based on Tuned Mass Dampers.
